Community Small Groups
The “P” in our GPS connections is the important connection that we make with the people at church. Jesus tells us that the world will know we are Christians by the way we love one another. Meeting together in smaller groups allows close friendships to develop.
Small group connections provide the life line for Christians as they work on applying Christian principles to daily living. Most small groups meet on a regular schedule – some weekly, some bi-weekly, some monthly – to encourage one another and develop close Christian friendships. Small groups give you a chance to connect with friends – to share the joys and troubles of life. The groups usually have ten to twelve members that have come together either because of age or life circumstance similarities, or a convenient location.
Our Campus Small Groups meet on Sunday mornings. Many of our members have work schedules or family obligations that prohibit them from meeting at someone’s home during the week, yet they want to become better connected with their friends at Eastside. These small groups meet every Sunday morning during both worship hours. Join us for worship one hour and stay to deepen your friendships during the other hour.
During the week, we have Home Small Groups meeting at various times and at various locations throughout the community. These groups are often drawn together by age, gender, interests or location. The groups meet either weekly or bi-weekly.
The church has several special interest groups that meet on a more limited basis for fellowship. There are two active Women’s Circles that meet for fellowship and to provide service projects. A Coffee Talk group for women meets monthly at area restaurants for food and fellowship. A group of women meet regularly to share scrapbooking ideas. Men meet monthly for a fellowship breakfast. Several men who enjoy outdoor activities meet monthly for fellowship. Our Forever Young group of seniors meets once a month for food and fellowship.
We also have small groups that have formed to specifically meet unique challenges that individuals and families face. Groups have formed for those who are either interested in adopting or have adopted children, couples who are experiencing the “empty-nest syndrome,” singles, divorce recovery, and single parents.
Joining a Group
Our Campus Small Groups are open for new members and meet during the two worship hours on Sunday mornings. Currently the groups meet across the street at the River Valley Middle School. Some of the current home small groups have room for additional members, but new groups are forming about every other month. If you are interested in joining an existing home group, or being a part of a new group, please contact us to help connect you.
Starting a Group
If you are interested in starting a group, there is a brief training required for the leaders that will help prepare and equip you for leading this important ministry. Curriculum materials are available at church, or we can assist you in selecting something of interest to your group. Please contact us to help you begin a group.
