Movie: Jackson’s Run

Posted on January 5, 2012 by Dave P

You will be hearing a lot over the next few week about Eastside taking part in the production of a movie called Jackson’s run. We as a leadership are very excited about the opportunity to have some influence in an industry that has so much influence on the general population. New Providence Entertainment and Eastside are in the eraly stages of planning the filming of the movie. We are set to start filming in June. If you are interested in being part of this Sunday January 22nd after second service we will be having an informational meeting. This will help you to grasp the movie and what it is about as well as meet the director. You will be able to ask question and learn more about this whole process.

Why: We are going to continue the relief efforts from the Tornado that devastated Joplin in May of last year.

What: We will be helping in the construction efforts. The church we are staying with have started a 12 in 12 campaign to build 12 houses in 2012.

Freemarket

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

I am constantly reminded of this verse when we do Outreach events here. I want Christ to look at us and say that we took care of the people who needed to be taken care of. This past Saturday we took one of those opportunities and held our second Freemarket day here at Eastside. I was really unsure of what to expect this time. Our first installment we saw 16 families come through our doors. These people took home clothes, furniture, and household goods. It was by all accounts a great and successful day.

Saturday I was again unsure of what to expect. I will be honest I was blown away.  The volunteers showed up at 8 am and by 8:15 we had people here waiting to take advantage of the Freemarket. It was amazing because people just kept coming all morning and by 11am 60 families had come though the doors. They took furniture and clothes that will hopefully help them through the winter months.

I want to thank all the people who donated their belonging and their time to enable the Freemarket to happen. I really believe that God is pleased when His people come together and take care of those who cannot take care of themselves.
